The Chroniclers Community is searching for solutions to problems resulting from differing belief systems.
The Solutions Framework is useful for outlining a problem and follows this format:
Problem Identification
Determining whether the decline in attendance at places of worship will result in more or less tolerance among holders of different beliefs or among believers and non believers.
Why We Care?
While they may believe they follow the only true path, many faiths also teach tolerance of others. If membership in organized religion declines, would it diminish peaceful coexistence between the world's great religions?
Who is Hurt/Helped?
That minority of believers who advocate death for those who fail to adopt their belief system benefits from a less tolerant milieu because they use intolerance (perceived or real) to justify destruction of the "other". All of humanity suffers when tolerance declines.
Origin of the Problem
As long as there has been more than one idea of how the universe came into being, whether by a creator with this set of attributes or a creator with that set, or no creator at all, there has always been those intolerant of "opposing views".
Is the Problem Critical?
Throughout history, periods of greater or lesser tolerance for "others" have occurred. Tolerance grows when the intolerant realize the self-destructive power of hate.
